February Snowfall

We didn't get a lot of snow this winter, but we took advantage of the little that we did get. Abby was indifferent to the weather, but she did like to shovel. :)

And she would have preferred to knock down the snowman. :)

Mallory was very excited about using buckets to build 'snow castles'.

This is hot, right?
They worked for the handful of snowfalls we got.

The puppies like to join the snow fun.
Claddagh loves to play fetch in the snow.

More snow castles.

Someone would rather make SAND castles.

Daddy distracted her with more shoveling. :)

And it wouldn't be a snow day without climbing the 'mountain'.

New year's day

New Year's Day was a perfect start to Mallory's year - it snowed!
Casey tried to share the snow with me ... inside the house.
It's part of being a kid, right??
I got to play inside with this cute little diaper buddy.

She found her favorite ornament:
Elvis - Suspicious Minds
and we danced while Mallie and Daddy cleared the driveway.

Winter.

Oh Buckeye.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
I'm tired of winter too.

More snow...

When life gives you (more) snow ... climb snow mountains...
From across the yard Mallory would yell, "Daddy, oh no, save me!" and then run, run, run until he scooped her up in his arms. And once surely wasn't enough...
And let's not forget about our smiley little bystander with the best (and warmest) seat in the house.
If I had to guess, I'd say it's 8 inches and rising since 10am today...

What a difference a year makes...

It is still fun to watch Daddy clear snow off the driveway even if she no longer needs a chair to do so (and OMG, look at her hair!).

Snowman

Saturday night's forecast showed rain and 6-8 inches of snow. By 7pm Mallory was begging to go outside as the snow began to cover everything in sight. I started by telling her it was too cold and dark to go outside, but then realized (after stepping outside) that the snow brightened things up and it wasn't near as cold as I thought.

happy, happy, happy girl
To our delight, the snow had perfect packing ability and a snowman was quickly born.
After adding arms, Mallory decided the snowman needed a hat.

Layers and layers for 30 minutes of snowy bliss. Every occasion has the great potential to end in tears. Thankfully we're not above bribery and offered a snack in trade for coming inside.

First Snow

We had our first snowfall about a week and a half ago and by 8am Mallory was all bundled up to check it out. We never actually got outside in last year's snow, so this was her first experience. She was delighted and needed no instructions.
We didn't even have boots yet, so we wrapped her shoes in grocery bags to keep her feet dry. Worked like a charm.
The temperatures were good to us those first couple days with the snow, so we ventured out quite a few times. We, including the pups. Now their paws freeze within minutes of being outside.
What a smile!
She has a tendency to tease Buckeye with things, i.e. sticks, rocks, etc, and then gets upset when he takes them from her. Here she was saying, "Buckeye, come here back mine-a stick."
We shoveled all the snow on the deck into the corner, so she calls it a mountain and climbs up.
This outing ended in tragedy when we couldn't play with bubbles. She spotted the giant container of bubbles that didn't make it inside when we cleaned up the yard. I tried explaining they were frozen, but of course that was lost on her. Don't worry Mallory, only 4 more months until Spring. Ha.
