Pumpkin Farm

A trip to a local pumpkin farm was in order this weekend. Though, oddly, not to buy pumpkins. (We got HUGE pumpkins at Aldi this week for $1.99/each ... a steal at twice the price for the size we got.) No, no, we love pumpkin farms for the open space, the animals and the smiles we get from the kiddos.

We were greeted by this guy ... an emu? ... as soon as we got out of the car. He made Jurassic Park-ish noises and creeped me out a little.
Mallory, however, was not the least bit frightened and proceeded to stick her arm through the fence as an attempt to, I don't know, pet the emus. SNAP! Just kidding, she was fine, but only because Uncle Kevin pulled her arm out just as our feathered friend got a little too close for this momma's comfort.
The sun was so bright I think Caelum had no choice but to close his eyes.
Petting zoos are a toddler's delight.
Sliced carrots are a great snack for the goats, the bunnies, AND EMBER. Three seconds after taking this picture the carrot in her hand disappeared into her mouth. We got confirmation that the carrots were freshly cut the night before, haha.
The bunnies were pretty cute to feed.
It was fun to bait them out of their little shelters.
Hmm, maybe we had TOO much fun, ha.
"Please do not let children climb on pumpkins."
Oops. I didn't see the signs until after I took the picture.
I promise.
It appears that the pony ride from our late summer visit to the zoo has stuck with Mallory.
Me: Mallory, do you want to ride a pony?
Mallory: No danks, Momma. No, Momma.
A visit to Tanner's Orchard is on next weekend's agenda.
We can't wait!
