We DROVE to Disney World.

Casey, Mallory and I just got back from a trip to Disney World with our friends, Brian and Summer and their daughter, Aubrey. We threw our sanity into the wind and DROVE. I'm kicking off the Disney blog series with: "Two entire days in a car ... not for the light-hearted". Nah, just kidding ... it wasn't as terrible as we'd feared - at all. The girls could not have tolerated being strapped into their car seats for a mere 24 hours any better ... seriously. Anyway, you'll notice many more pictures were taken on the drive TO Florida, you know, when the idea of the road trip was still a novelty. To pass the time, we kept a journal (which also waned as time went on, but was hilariously funny all the while).

We left West Bend just after 9am.
The first spill occurred just 90 minutes after leaving. (Summer...gah! :))
Livin' the dream. Cracker sticks with cheese and a movie. Kick your feet up, girl, it's going to be a looooooooong ride.
That's right. Don't waste that cheese.
*shudder*
First potty break - less than 2 hours into the trip.
Not a good sign.
Aaaaaand Mallory asks "Are we here?" when arriving at the McDonald's for said potty break. We all nearly choked from laughter.

20 minutes later, she asks if we're at the pool. Oh, 2 year olds and their misconception of time.

"Hey! It's the Sears tower!"
Ha.
Anybody??
Oooh, fun. Driving rain.
No pun intended.
Hour 8 and already looking a liiiiiitle strung out.
Summer's first turn at the wheel.
In the pouring rain.
White knuckles.
She braved 18 minutes of driving through the rain in the dark before meekly turning the wheel back over to me. We may or may not have given her a hard time about this for the next several hours (okay, the rest of the week).

Aubrey did not sleep a WINK during the daylight hours. When she finally fell asleep she was in a trance-like state and had been awake almost 17 hours.
We couldn't help but admire Brian's fancy neck pillow.
Somehow they slept almost 8 hours in those seats.
I'll spare you the rest of the commentary and potty breaks. This post was just a tease while I sort through the rest of the 700+ photos I took through the week. But I'll leave you with these last TWO pictures ... the only ones I took on the way home, ha. I wasn't kidding ... the novelty wore off.

Nap time.
Oh, and if you've never driven in Atlanta during rush hour, you have not lived! How exhilarating! No, no, not really. Stressful is more like it!
Okay, I promise ... stay tuned for the rest of the (good) pictures. Five days of Disney World theme park fun, my friends. We loved every minute of it. Now, if we could just get Mallory to understand it's going to be a while before we can go back...

(And I have so many other non-vacation pictures to share!)
