Little Climber

Much like what you'll see for the next couple days, this post falls under the category, "blog slacker" ...

Enjoy this fun little adventure from a couple weeks ago ... (no biggie anymore, of course, but it shocked us at the time!)

Dairy Queen

I love Dairy Queen for the blizzards ...
Mallory (currently) loves Dairy Queen for the super funola ball pit!
(we met Penny and her kids for lunch ... you can see Alex, can you find Collin?)

Comments

I was informed that it was near impossible to post a comment on our blog - Fort Knox, if you will. Well, I switched some things around and hopefully corrected the issue.

Now I expect to see our blog lit up with comments from ALL of you! Of course ......................... you'll probably want to see a new post first. I'm getting there. I'm apparently on an unplanned hiatus. Check back after the weekend - we're in Galesburg for Casey's 10-year high school reunion!

miss you already...

I'm gonna miss this little face.

I'm leaving eaaaarly tomorrow morning for Atlanta and I'll be there until Saturday for PartyLite's National Conference. Mallory will be hanging out with Daddy, Grandma and Meme while I'm away (she's staying at Grandma's tonight).

I know they'll have fun (and so will I) but I'll be anxiously awaiting her bright smile when she wakes up Sunday morning.

Kiddie Pool

Friday was a warm day and after a sticky lunch of peanut butter and jelly, we borrowed the neighbors pool in lieu of a bath. The water, of course, was definitely not very warm, so I let Mallory check things out on her own.
She liked the idea ... ... and began splashing vigorously ...
... and soon, she needed a closer look.
... more splashing ...
But I don't want to SIT ...
Surrounded by her tub toys, it was like a bath,
only with the sun shining on her face.
... priceless ...
(someday there will be an attitude attached to this pose.)
Every time I poured from the watering can she would open her mouth, ha ha.
This was a lot more fun than a bath!

On a Walk

What fun is a walk if you don't stop to smell ... er, touch ... the flowers?

Farmer's Market

Mallory got a phone call from Aubrey on Friday asking if we could meet her at the local Farmer's Market Saturday morning. She couldn't turn down an invitation from a friend so we were out the door right after breakfast. An hour later we had fresh raspberries and cherries in tow and headed home for a nap. Good to see you, Aubrey - call again soon!

New Patio

Oh yeah! Casey and I decided it was finally time to get rid of the lannon stone "patio" that was outside our back garage door. It had seen better days and was quite the mud puddle throughout the winter and any time it rained. Anyway, we spent two Saturdays in June on this beauty!
(I don't have a before picture, you'll just have to trust that this is a serious improvement!) I'm proud of us!!

Follow the Leader

It's a frequent activity around here for one of the dogs ... barky mcbarkerson buckeye ... to bark at any and everything passing by (inanimate objects included). Of course he should bark at a blowing leaf - the leaf is clearly trying to infiltrate the perimeter and everyone inside should be alerted of this danger. He then quickly runs to the front door, open or not, to get a better view of said danger. This is such a regular occurence that Claddagh now follows closely (I didn't say quickly ... big and slow as she is) behind him.

Well, well, well ... recently I witnessed Mallory crawl excitedly from the kitchen (a good 25 feet away) to see what all the fuss was about at the door. I like that she likes the dogs - they're a pretty regular source of entertainment for her.

Goosey Goosey Gander

By the way, can anyone tell me how this has ANY business being in a children's book?

Goosey goosey gander,
Whither shall I wander?
Upstairs and downstairs
And in my lady's chamber.
There I met an old man
Who wouldn't say his prayers,
So I took him by his left leg
And threw him down the stairs.

What?

I did a double take the other night while reading to Mallory from a book of nursery rhymes. I understand not saying your prayers could considered by some to be a serious offense. I had no idea it was punishable by a violent shove down the stairs.

I half expected to turn the page to see, "if you don't eat your peas you're going to get hit by a bus." (I know that doesn't rhyme, but seriously.)

This post seemed deserving of a mouthful of goldfish and a blank stare. You're welcome.

Garbage Girl

Apparently we have some interesting and exciting garbage here at the Kane house. Mallory takes EVERY possible opportunity to inspect it.

4th of July

Okedoke, folks. We had a small gathering for the 4th. It thought it might rain for a minute, but as it turned out the sun prevailed, sneaking out from behind the clouds for most of the afternoon. The food was plentiful, the company was friendly and fun was had by all. (Well, I didn't get any reports of someone not having fun, so I'll assume fun was had by all.) Here it is, in a nutshell:
... grandma time ...
... our little patriotic princess ...
... cousin hugs ...
... grandma kisses ...
... auntie kisses ...
... beautiful baby girls ...
... silly smiles ...
... blowing bubbles ...
what a FACE!
